Conner Cappelletti and Armando Filho have been named to Lane United’s 2017 coaching staff under head coach John Galas, who will begin his fourth season at the helm for the Reds when they open May 5 against Northwest Christian University.

Cappelletti, who holds a USSF National B License, returns for his fourth year as an assistant coach for the Reds. Also a coach for local club Eugene Timbers Fútbol Club, Cappelletti gained valuable experience this winter earning international caps playing with the Guam National Team at the EAFF E-1 Championships.

Coach Galas on Cappelletti: “Delighted to welcome Coach Cappelletti back for the 2017 season. He has been with us since the beginning and has been an invaluable member of the staff. He is a bright young coach who understands the game well and has a keen eye for identifying talent. He is well respected in our soccer community working with ETFC, and I am excited to be on the sidelines again with him this year. Having played in the PDL, he understands the commitment level to succeed in the league, and certainly understands our club culture here at LUFC.”

Filho was a midfielder for the Reds during the 2015-2016 seasons, seeing the field for five games and 252 minutes with LUFC last summer. He played college soccer at Post University before joining the Reds’ coaching staff this season, scoring two goals, recording two assists, and tallying 1358 minutes in 18 games in 2016.

Coach Galas on Filho: “I am happy to welcome Armando to this years’ Technical Staff. He also has been with the club since its inception and knows the level and culture very well. It is a natural progression for him to join the coaching staff as he is transitioning from playing to coaching. He’s very active in our community, coaching with Pelada FA. In addition, he has been interning with one of our biggest partners in Tensegrity Physical Therapy. He will compliment our staff well and will be able to assist us in our player monitoring using the Fit For 90 App, as well as be a link to our PT clinic when necessary. He has tremendous energy and passion for the game and his infectious personality will certainly keep training sessions lively.”
