Lane United FC competes in the USL Premier Development League (PDL), which is a league for predominantly college-aged players. NCAA rules dictate that Lane United’s players cannot be paid a salary, but without compromising the eligibility of the student-athletes, we will be able to offer them housing.
Lane United would like to hear from potential host families in the Eugene/Springfield area who are interested in hosting a Reds player from May through the end of July of 2016. The club wants to provide quality homestay opportunities for these young men, giving them the chance to experience great hospitality and a taste of the Eugene community.
At minimum, families should be able to offer a private living space for their player and access to transportation, preferably the major bus routes in the area. After potential hosts have submitted their applications, Lane United will be conducting individual interviews and home visits to help clarify the expectations and needs for all parties involved—the hosts, the players, and the club. These will include conversations with host families from 2014 and 2015.
If you are unsure whether you would make a good host, we encourage you to apply anyway: the interview process will provide you with information that will help you to answer that question.
Please click on the link below to complete a homestay application. This will be a multi-month process as we narrow down hosts and determine which players need them. If you have questions, please contact our homestay coordinators at firstname.lastname@example.org.
