Galas named Executive of Year; LUFC wins two Golden Scarves
For Immediate Release: 12/7/16
TAMPA, Fla. — Lane United FC Managing Director Dave Galas was named 2016 Executive of the Year at the Premier Development League Winter Summit in Tampa, Fla. Tuesday.
Galas, who completed his third year as the Managing Director of the Reds this season, was instrumental in creation of the Club in 2013 along with his brother and head coach, John. He has also been a leader with on-going plans for Lane United’s eventual move to the new Civic Stadium in Eugene.
The vision of the Galas’ brothers has always been centered around making Lane United an integral part of the Lane County community that its people can really get behind and support.
“I’m surprised, humbled, and honored to have been named the PDL Executive of the Year,” Galas said. “I’m thrilled to have developed and built Lane United to this point, especially with my brother, John. Most of all, I’m happy Lane United is getting recognition from the league for something special we built for our community.”
John is happy to see Dave’s efforts recognized by the rest of the league after seeing first-hand what it takes to keep the club moving forward every day.
“Congrats to Dave on the award, I think it’s wonderful to be recognized by your peers for the hard work, vision, and leadership he has provided this organization,” head coach John Galas said. “LUFC continues to improve year after year on and off the field. This award is a testament to Dave’s vision for the club.”
Other awards given out at the 2016 Winter Summit include BYU Soccer being named Franchise of the Year, and Tormenta FC as new Franchise of the Year, an award won by Lane United after its inaugural season in 2014.
The 2016 PDL Golden Scarves were awarded Wednesday in Tampa with Lane United winning twice. The Golden Scarf for Best Photography was given to LUFC for the work done by John Sperry, the team’s official photographer. The Reds also won the Best Game Promotion Golden Scarf for its promotion in conjunction with Drawn and FireMed at the first game of the 2016 season.
Lane United’s 2017 schedule for its fourth year of play in the PDL will be set this week at the Winter Summit, an annual meeting of executives and coaches from around the league.
