Lane United Holds First Training Session of the Season
Eugene, OR– May 1, marks the first official training session of Lane United FC. The Reds held tryouts April 21 where over 20 players came out to try for the last remaining roster spots. Last Saturday’s home opener against the Vancouver Victory featured many of those trialists along side some of the early arrivals of the rostered squad.
Despite having no training under their belts, the Reds started the season off looking very good by winning their home opener 4-0. Today the team looks to start putting together a style soccer that resembles the vision of Coach John Galas.
“We are excited to finally get going. It is a painfully long off-season between PDL campaigns. A lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to pull this all together, so there is a special feeling on the first day when guys start rolling into the training ground.” says John Galas. He continues saying, “We don’t have everyone in just quite yet, but I was impressed with what we saw last Saturday night in our friendly and some of those guys made strong cases for themselves and will be here tomorrow with some of our signed players. It should be great energy and enthusiasm this week as we get the guys in and prepare for a stern test against NCU on Saturday night.”
This weekend Lane United will play its second match against Northwest Christian University at Les Schwab Sports Park under the lights again. Kick off is set for 7PM. Season tickets are now available to be purchased online.
