Match Recap: League Opener vs TSS FC Rovers
Vancouver, BC- Tonight’s PDL Northwest Conference league opener and first game for the TSS FC Rovers turned out to be an excellent night for the Red’s. The game opened up in the 19th minute with a booming volley goal from the top of the box from forward, Kyle Coffee. Coffee comes from the University of Washington and will only be with the Red’s for a few short weeks, but he took no time to break into stride with the squad.
The second and third goals followed almost back to back, yet again by Kyle Coffee in the 30th and and 34th minute. The second goal of the night came off of a cross from Macchione with a clinic volley finish, followed quickly by his third from an excellent Coffee header from the right side of the pitch.
Going into half time with a 3-0 lead didnt allow any room for LUFC to take the foot off the pedal as they came out and notched their fourth and final goal of the night in the the 61st minute off of a corner to the back post that was masterfully put away off of a great volley by Anthony Macchione.
The Rovers got their first goal on the season in the 76th minute to put TSS FC on the score board. Despite a few more good chances, the Red’s held the score to a 4-1 victory to walk away from the first Northwest Conference game of the season in great standings.
“Pleased with tonight’s performance. A few nervous moments early, but overall I’m really happy for the boys. They deserved this result tonight. TSS do a fantastic job, they’re tremendous hosts, and extremely professional in everything they do. Overall yes, very pleased for the positive start to the season.” Says Coach John Galas.
The Red’s next match will be the league home opener for the Red’s at Les Schwab Sports Park at 2:00PM this Sunday, May 20th. The game will be the inaugural game of the next stadium seating around our home pitch!
