LUFC Drops Away Match at Sounders U-23
Lane United couldn’t get much going offensively in a 3-0 defeat at Seattle Sounders U-23 Friday night.
Adam Jones recorded a hat trick for Seattle and goalkeeper Cameron Frost recorded a clean sheet with three saves to keep the Reds off the scoreboard.
The tables were turned on Lane United after putting on a dominant performance against the same club in a 4-1 victory over the Sounders at the Les Schwab Sports Park the week before.
Jones put away the first goal in the 40th minute off assists from Miguel Berry and Derek Johnson. He followed that with his second and third goals in the 63rd and 82nd minute, respectively.
It was tough for the Reds to create chances at the offensive end against a tough Seattle defense that has allowed just six goals in seven PDL matches. Four of those goals allowed coming in the match last week against Lane United.
Nick Moon recorded two shots to lead Lane United, followed by Jordan Jones, Vicente Mora, Matthias Binder and Isma Fernandez who all took one shot.
Ximo Miralles played all 90 minutes in goal four the fourth straight match and recorded a save.
The loss drops the Reds to 4-2-2 overall and 2-2-2 in league play. Lane United will get another chance to earn its first league road wins of the season with two matches at Northwest Division leader Calgary Foothills FC next weekend.
Up Next: Lane United will look to stay undefeated at home as Southern Oregon Starphire visit for the third friendly of the season Tuesday, June 13. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm from the Les Schwab Sports Park.
