Match Preview LUFC vs Starphire FC

May 8, 2018

Lane United will take the field again Wednesday night for a match against UPSL side, Starphire FC. The game time has changed to 7:30 PM but will still be held at Ashland High School.

Starphire FC is located in Medford, OR and compete in the Wild West Region of the US Soccer Federation’s United Premier Soccer League (UPSL).  Their season started March 10, having already played 8 matches with a 1-6-1 record. They are coming off of a 2-0 loss to PDL’s Northwest Region league opponent Timbers U23. Starphire FC are coached by Michael Belzberg. He is assisted by Victor Fernandez.

Lane United are coming off of a 1-1 draw against local college side, Northwest Christian University. This will be the second week of training for LUFC and what an exciting week it has been with a few more rostered players arriving to join the squad.

“An early season test on the road for us, a fantastic opportunity to play against an organized team who has has a few games under the belt.  It certainly wont be easy for us to get a result down there, but more importantly it will give us another quality 90 minutes playing together, working out some things on the field as we prepare for the league opener on May 14th.” Says coach John Galas.

The game kicks off at 7:30 PM at Ashland High School. This will be the last game before the PDL Northwest Division league opens up on Monday, May 14th away at TSS FC Rovers.
