RECAP: LUFC Wins its Home Opener Against Vancouver
Eugene, OR – Lane United FC held their home opener April 28 under the lights and in heavy rain at Les Schwab Sports Park. With a slew of goals from different players, LUFC walked away with a resounding 4-0 win over the Vancouver Victory.
The Lane United scoring started in the first half at the 28th minute from a good header by Sean Dorman off of a corner and again at the 43rd minute from a shot from Calvin Mitchell to go into half with a 2-0 lead. Coach John Galas made several changes at half to give players minutes as the squad is still being solidified, but you wouldn’t have been able to tell as LUFC notched their third goal in the 57th with an unassisted goal by Alex Baker as the ball bounced around the box after a corner, that was finally punched in by Baker. The scoring finished off in the 67th minute with a Vancouver Victory own goal.
Facing Vancouver Victory
Saturday marked the Vancouver Victory’s second game of the season, and they came to Les Schwab Sports Park with a 3-0 win over North Idaho College.
Lane United FC debut
As this was LUFC’s first game of the season and the squad’s first time playing together, expectations from Coach John Galas were to give trialists and rostered players minutes to give everyone a first glance of this year’s team.
Next up, Lane Untied FC faces Northwest Christian University this Saturday May 5th at 7PM at Les Schwab Sports Park.
